MASSAGE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
My primary goal is to provide my clients with a professional therapeutic massage that supports them on their wellness journey. I understand "life" happens — unforeseen events like traffic, a meeting that runs late, an unanticipated illness, or any other uncontrollable situation might require you to cancel your appointment. Just so we're both considerate of each other's time, I've adopted and will enforce the following policies:
Body Balance Massage Co. provides massage therapy services for the primary purpose of relaxation and the relief of muscular tension. Services provided are in no way a substitute for examination, diagnosis or treatment by a physician. The therapists of Body Balance Massage Co. are not qualified to diagnose, prescribe or treat any physical or mental illness and are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments. All information provided is educational in nature. By engaging in services with Body Balance Massage Co. you do so at your own risk.
The reservation fee is 50% of a desired service. This fee is required to hold an appointment and must be paid before an appointment time will be confirmed.
Changing payment methods at the close of the massage is acceptable. In such a case, the new payment method will be used and the reservation fee will be refunded to the credit card used to hold the reservation. Please note, it may take 14 business days or longer for a reversal to clear your bank or credit institution.
ARRIVAL TO YOUR MASSAGE
I'll make every effort to arrive to your massage at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time in order to set up the space. However, as a mobile massage therapist, I have my own set of uncontrollable and unexpected circumstances to contend with, the primary being traffic during travel between sessions.
In the event I'm running behind schedule, I'll notify you via phone or text message with an estimated arrival time. If that time doesn't work with your schedule, I'll make every effort to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. Alternately, you may cancel and request a full refund of your reservation fee.
In the event you are late for your appointment, I may have to shorten your service in order to maintain my schedule. You will be charged the full price of the session. It is your responsibility to notify me, either via phone or text, that you will be late, and provide an estimated arrival time. I'll accommodate you as best I can, however, if the appointment must be cancelled the situation will be treated as a "No Show" and therefore subject to my No Show Policy. In that case, no full or partial refund of your reservation fee will be given.
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. This gives me enough time to fill that appointment slot. Cancellations made with at least 24 hours notice will have the reservation fee applied to a future appointment.
Failure to reschedule or cancel prior to 24 hours before your massage appointment will result in forfeiture of your reservation fee.
NO SHOW POLICY
Clients who fail to show for their massage appointment, or fail to cancel their appointment, will not be given a full or partial refund of their reservation fee and their reservation fee will not be credited to a future service.
Prior to your first visit with me you will receive a copy of my massage therapy policies. You'll be required to electronically sign the consent and in so doing you state you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the policies and procedures. If I have not seen you in over a year, you'll be asked to sign a new consent form.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE
I am a Certified Massage Therapist, meaning I am a licensed practitioner certified through the California Massage Therapy Council. I'm a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association, and board certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. As such, I'm held to a very high ethical standard as a bodywork practitioner.
I utilize health and medical history in order to apply the appropriate manual techniques with the intention of positively affecting my client's well-being. However, I do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide treatment for specific medical conditions without a doctor's supervision. I am required to refer you for diagnosis and to follow the recommendations of your physician.
RESPECT FOR CLIENT NEEDS AND BOUNDARIES
I'm happy to adjust pressure, music volume, time spent in a particular area, or move on if you request it. Please communicate your needs so you have the most positive therapeutic experience. You may stop a session or refuse a modality at any time.
You understand this is a nonsexual massage. Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, the session will stop immediately, and you will be reported to the proper authorities. You will not be rescheduled if this occurs.
The breast and genital area will not be massaged under any circumstances. A professional distance will be maintained from these areas.
Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND CONVERSATION
The discussion between the massage therapist and the client is confidential. The client may or may not choose to talk during the session. I'm happy to listen and converse if you so choose. However, it's best to keep away from charged topics, such as religion and politics.
EXISTING AND NEW MEDICAL CONDITIONS
It is the responsibility of the client to keep me informed of any medical treatment currently being undertaken, and if necessary to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage session may be continued.
The client must also keep me informed of any changes in health conditions.
If you have any questions on the above information, please contact me and we can discuss them further.
